NCCER Plumbing Level 1 course, students will learn the basics of plumbing systems, including safety practices, tool usage, and fundamental pipefitting techniques. They will also gain knowledge about plumbing codes, standards, and how to read and interpret plumbing blueprints and specification

Course Content:

Introduction to the Plumbing Profession:

  • Overview of plumbing career paths, industry expectations

  • Basic tools and materials used in plumbing.

Plumbing Math:

  • Basic mathematical concepts and calculations relevant to plumbing, such as measurements, area, volume, and pipe sizing.

Copper Tube and Fittings:

  • Types, applications, and installation techniques for copper pipes and fittings, including soldering and brazing.

Plumbing Safety:

  • Safety protocols and practices, including personal protective equipment (PPE)

  • Job site safety, and hazard recognition.

Plumbing Drawings:

  • Reading and interpreting plumbing blueprints

  • Schematics, understanding symbols and abbreviations.

Cast-Iron Pipe and Fittings:

  • Overview of cast-iron piping systems, applications, and installation methods.

Tools of the Trade:

  • Identification and proper use of common plumbing tools, including pipe wrenches, tubing cutters,

  • Pipe-threading machines.

Plastic Pipe and Fittings:

  • Types, applications, and installation techniques for various plastic pipes and fittings.

Steel Pipe and Fittings:

  • Types, applications, and installation techniques for steel pipes and fittings, including threading and joining methods.
